Brent Council
The Council for the London Borough of Brent is based in Wembley and is responsible for all the services needed by a growing population of over 270,000 people. Culturally diverse, Brent is one of only two councils in the UK to have a larger Black and Asian minority ethnic population than White British.
Brent Council has a long term aim to ensure that no resident is disadvantaged by where they live and to reduce the gaps between their deprived communities and rest of London. A key tool in helping to achieve this aim is the three yearly “One in Five” Household Survey.
Project overview
The results of the Household Survey comprise more than 400 individual documents. Naturally, after investing in such a comprehensive survey the council wanted to make the results widely and easily available. However, finding the right medium to enable easy distribution of the survey initially proved difficult.
The Council asked Interactive Web Solutions to assist them in the task and after analysing their requirements we were able to recommend a solution. We took the 400 individual documents and utilised Flash and Director to create a simple to use navigation system that would ensure that readers could quickly and easily find the information they required. In addition we also added a feedback form to enable recipients to comment on the usefulness of the survey.
Finally we designed the artwork for the entire project and were responsible for converting the end document to PDF format and dealing with the CD-ROM replication.
What the client had to say
Joanne Ketton, Regeneration Officer at Brent Council commented:
“Interactive Web Solutions were able to take a quick verbal brief and produce a really high quality CD Rom. The graphics on the CD are excellent – really modern yet clear. It has proved to be an invaluable tool.”
