Number 1 Reg deals with the sale of personalised car registration numbers. They have access to millions of registration numbers, most of which have never been previously displayed on a vehicle.
With their head office based in Swansea, they are able to quickly and efficiently deal with any issues that may arise with the DVLA.
Project overview
Number 1 Reg had built up their business by offering their services over the telephone. They wanted to take the business to the next level and exploit the growing use of the Internet by enabling their customers to search for and purchase number plates online.
They approached Interactive Web Solutions and commissioned us to develop a new Web site, while at the same time creating a new logo and brand that would be as effective online as it would for traditional media.
The Web site, developed in XHTML, PHP and SQL included:
- The regular automatic import of the DVLA database, containing more than 20 Million plates
- Advanced and intuitive number plate search
- Simulation of chosen number plate on a 3D modelled vehicle
- Content Management System for news, FAQ and testimonials
- Customer alert sign up
- Shopping cart facility
- Protx payment integration
- Website hosting
The Rapid Application Development (RAD) methodology that we utilised on the project ensured that the client was fully involved in all stages of the design and functionality specification. It also resulted in the early testing and demonstration of each component of the Web site and ensured that preset deadlines were met.
